Overview

Michael heads the firm’s mortgage fraud investigation and loss recovery practice. Michael advises government entities, banks, large financial institutions and loan servicers on the most cost efficient procedures to recover, mitigate and prevent losses on mortgage loans. Michael regularly litigates, negotiates and mediates cases across the country, resulting in tens of millions of dollars recovered each year for MRLG’s clients.

Michael was previously at IndyMac Bank where he was in charge of Fraud Risk Management, managing over 200 employees and overseeing several business units, including, Fraud Recovery and Loss Mitigation, a business and legal team that pioneered a pro-active loss recovery program to identify and investigate mortgage loans for fraud, and enforce (through litigation) legal recovery rights. Michael also served as Head of Litigation for IndyMac’s Corporate Legal Department and Chief Counsel for IndyMac’s Home Loan Servicing group.

Michael has been active in mortgage industry anti-fraud activities, including serving as Vice Chair of the National Anti-Fraud Data Sharing Project through the Mortgage Bankers Association. Michael has been a speaker at various mortgage industry and government conferences on topics relating to mortgage fraud identification, recovery and prevention strategies.
